This unique, vintage unframed mirror was made in the 1920-30's to advertise a service station or auto service center in Baker, Montana and features back painted glass and an under-glass scene of a man and his Pointer hunting dog aiming his rifle at male and female Pheasant birds, with a campfire in the foreground.
Mirror measures 9 inches tall by 8 inches wide; has a 1/4-inch wide lime green, back-painted border on the outside edge to resemble a frame with a matching green, thinner accent line. Several outlines of clouds are in the sky and a silhouette image of a rifle is in the upper right hand corner beside a light gray / silver rectangular advertisement which reads, "MOLINE & SON, Carter Servicenter, Phone 21, Baker, Montana", and a Carter logo in black.
In overall good vintage condition for its age. Glass in is great condition with no chips or cracks and has a smooth ground edge. Mirror has loss of silvering in several areas, as shown in photos. Back of mirror has cardboard attached with a punched opening and cord hanger at the top. Under-glass image of the two pheasants, hunter, dog, and campfire appears to have been torn and repaired; doesn't look bad but adds character to this very old piece. Embossed cardboard back may not be original; it is clean except for one dark brown stain.
An interesting vintage piece from the estate of a man whose entire house was decorated with his collection of Western memorabilia. Will be a nice addition to yours too!
