Advertising Fan North Carolina Funeral Home Wooden Handle 1950-60s.
This cardboard advertising fan from Lutz-Austell Funeral Home in Shelby, North Carolina brings back memories of my childhood in the 1950s. These fans were used as a marketing tool for the funeral home and to stir a breeze in a sometimes crowded, stuffy room during visitations or services for the dearly departed.
This one has a graphic of praying hands and a cross, and "The Lord's Prayer" from the Book of Matthew in the Bible. This graphic is signed "A. Scheer 1957 (or 1967 - tiny print is hard to read) 8516P. The cardboard portion of the fan measures 7-3/4" by 7-1/4" and has a shaped wood handle attached with 2 staples.. Colored in soft shades of pale green with black print, it is in very good condition for its age. It has no bends or tears but there is a slight amount of finish loss in several areas if you look closely. A great collector's item of days gone by!
