I was told that this vintage wooden hand plane may have been a "toy" tool perhaps made for a young man working along side his father learning a Carpenter trade. That story may be true but the blade of the hand tool seems pretty sharp and the size of the tool may not be related to the age of its user at all. Small or miniature hand planes are certainly used for fine scale planing at times when a larger hand tool is not appropriate in woodworking.
The blade and the knob can be removed. The blade is adjusted by hand (slid up or down in a groove) to determine its length on the underside. No markings are found on the tool or the blade and it seems quite possible that the vintage tool itself was created by hand. Functionality has not been tested.
