This listing is for ONE SET OF FOUR Cups & Saucers in very good condition.
Several designs of cups and saucers by Laughlin were made with this Poppy pattern. Their Kwaker, Ivora, and even the Virginia Rose shape can be found with these orange poppies and yellow roses with black leaves. This shape is mug-like and is one of the more uncommon. This shape is very similar to the Studio shape by Laughlin and is often labeled by collectors as the "St. Denis" shape. This cup shape came in at least two different sizes and with slightly different handles. These cups are only approximately 2 5/8" tall which is smaller than most found in this shape making them even more uncommon. These small cups hold only 8 ounces while the larger ones hold 10 ounces. These appear more "delicate & feminine." There is very light crazing noted on the inside of one of the small "cups." No chips or nicks are found on any and the bright floral pattern remains sharp.
This Poppy & Rose design was introduced by Homer Laughlin in the 1930's and continued in production through the 1950's. This pattern is perhaps one of the most popular Laughlin designs beyond their Fiesta. The design of Orange Poppies, Yellow Roses, and Black Leaves by Homer Laughlin, is informally known as "Poppy & Rose" by some collectors, "Olivia" by others, tagged as "Ivora" by some, and just labeled with a number "K4124" by others.
The current price is for 4 Cups and 4 Saucers.
