Pink roses with sage green leaves are at the center of this vintage 11 3/4" platter. The leafy rose print surrounds a yellow medallion with a design similar to black wrought iron. The platter is trimmed with a 3/8", 22k Gold, embellishment that contains a leaf pattern that is worn here and there but remains shiny. Because of the pink cabbage roses and the crazing of the piece, it would work beautifully with "cottage" decor. Most of the crazing is noted on the back of the platter but there is also a very light crazing on the front as well... enough to give it character. There is an uneven area along the bottom edge shown in the photo that appears as a chip in the photo (less so in person) but apparently is a defect from manufacture as it is under the glaze. Heavy ironstone, the platter has one very tiny nick also on the back edge.
The platter is 11 3/4" x 9 1/4".
It is marked with the pattern name: Southern Rose. The mark also states "Union Made" (terminology used mostly in the 1930's), Made in the U.S.A., and Warranted 22K Gold Trim. A beautiful rose pattern! .
