Silver Harp Irish Memories Antique St. Patrick's PostcardSilver Harp Irish Memories Antique St. Patrick's Postcard

The scan of this antique postcard doesn't show the shine of the silver and makes the colors appear "flat" instead of the shine that is seen in person. The silver has a satin-like glow, not a high gloss. The focus of the antique card is the large Harp, a symbol of Ireland, and therefore often used on many Saint Patrick’s day postcards and decorations. The embossed postcard features the harp design that was popular in Ireland from the 17th century until 1922. The modern harps (as on the Flag of Ireland today) no longer depict this artistic shape of a woman on the Pillar.

The greeting; "Tune up the Harp and play a tune, One with an Irish strain, that memories recall, my childhood days again." is printed on a banner. A heart is printed with "Erin Go Braugh" and a Shamrock offers the message; "Dear Irish Memories." The card is in Excellent circulated condition. Postmarked 1909, the canceled stamp is intact. The message and Ohio address were written in pencil.
