The aqua or turquoise sea color of this pattern complimented with a coastal flora and a driftwood grayish brown just cries out BEACH!...and then of course there is the name: Biscayne which brings to mind the Biscayne Bay.
A 1950's advertisement, for these mid-century dishes manufactured by Paden City pottery, refers to the pattern as being "for the Modern" and "young at heart" with a "California feel." The same ad refers to the "smart turquoise" and "scintillating shapes." From the ad, it appears that these dishes were originally sold in sets of 6, 8, or 12.
This set of six fruit or dessert bowls are free of nicks, chips, cracks, or crazing. The semi-porcelain dinnerware was made as oven proof and was said to have "lasting beauty" which has proven to be true! Each of the bowls carry the Paden City Mark; Made in the U.S.A., Oven Proof, and a date code for 1956.
This pattern was also produced by Salem China and some of the pieces from each pottery co-mingle well. The popular Biscayne design was also picked up by Anchor Hocking Fire King who produced some glassware in the design.
The price includes SIX: 5 1/4" fruit, berry, or dessert bowls. Two more of these bowls are available in a separate listing. If you wish to purchase all eight you may do so for $32 (plus shipping) please just notify the shop owner so that the special price can be arranged.
