This Match Book Cover is addressed La Grange, IL and features a General Motors Locomotive. The matchbook advertises the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors in La Grange Illinois and probably hails from around 1940 to 1941. In 1941, this General Motors plant was said to be the largest builders of locomotives in the world. I believe it is accurate to say that GM initiated the first Diesel Locomotive in the 1930's.
All of the matches appear to be present and the match book unused. The book is 3" x 2" closed and has a glossy protective coating. This is the very first collectible matchbook I've ever had in my possession so I'm certainly not a specialist on them but it appears to be in Excellent Condition. The matches were purchased more because I love trains, trains, trains!
