This vintage red Luzianne Coffee Tin is from the early 1960's or possibly earlier. One side of the covered coffee can had a paper label with a Black "Mammy" figure. The label was made to remove so that then the customer was left with the permanent decorative side to keep as a canister. These tins came in one, two, and three pound size so that the consumer could collect a complete canister set. The label on this tin was mostly removed though remains partially intact. There seems to be light overall fading of the red exterior though the decorative chickens remain bright and colorful. Two brightly colored roosters and a hen face each other in the barn yard with a white fence and a barn in the background.
The can has the normal nicks and dings to its finish. The lid can be removed without difficulty and there is some light rusting noted on the interior though the exterior remains fine. The can is 6 1/2" tall and 5 1/8" across.
