This "Spice Box" by Lustro-ware is an uncommon find!
This red and white box is made like the recipe boxes by Lustro Ware but was made for Spices as the fancy lettering on the front of the box states. The box measures 4" tall x 5 1/2" wide. It has a dome top. The box has no chips or cracks and the letters remain nicely intact. The left front corner of the box is slightly misshapen, appearing to have been too closely exposed to heat.
Within the box are six white plastic Griffiths Spice Bottles which include: Roastmeat Seasoning, Paprika, Garlic Salt, Poultry Seasoning, Cinnamon, and Ginger. Five of the jars have retained their graphics with only minimal disturbance. The Paprika bottle has smearing of the name as well as the written information on the back. No cracks in the plastic bottles is found, there is some yellowing and staining. The shaker jars have red metal tops. There is some discoloration or what appears to be oxidation on three of the metal tops. (The top for the Paprika has the most discoloration.) The other three metal tops appear to be in great condition.
The set also includes recipe index cards from Giffiths. These include "spices and foods that go together", "vegetables,""salads," "sauces," "soups," "canning, pickling and preserving" and others.
