In Homer Laughlin's beautiful Lily of The Valley design, this is a very hard to find covered serving bowl. The round vegetable Serving Bowl is in the Eggshell Nautilus shape. The defining characteristic of the shape is the spiral shaped handles similar to a real Nautilus shell.
The covered bowl measures 11 1/4" across (including the decorative handles) and 5 1/2" tall including the knob. The lovely floral design is a spray of Lily of the Valley trimmed with a thin green band and a platinum rim. The front and back of the bowl carry the same design which is also displayed on the lid as well. The platinum trim is repeated on the knob of the cover and used to also highlight the handles. The covered bowls in the Nautilus Shape are rather difficult to find in most designs but particularly rare in the Lily of the Valley. The shape of these casseroles or dishes in the Eggshell Nautilus are a larger version of the shape of the covered sugar.
In Excellent Condition, there is very minimal disturbance to the platinum and a small area that appears to have been missed when applying the green trim to the top (shown in a close up photo). No nicks, chips, breaks or crazing found!
