From the 1950's to 1960's, this lovely leaf pin is marked WGermany (West Germany). The silver tone pin is not Sterling but is actually a light weight aluminum that will not tarnish. The aluminum jewelry has a gone through a process of electrolytic oxidation known as Eloxal that was used Post World War Two in Germany.
The front of the pin is covered with fine Marcasites or perhaps Marcasite-like faceted metal that shines as brilliantly under light as if they were tiny rhinestones. The leafy pin also incorporates two tiny blooms within its design. Because it is light weight the brooch can be worn on sheer summer fabrics as well as a decoration for the heavier winter clothing, hats, or bags.
The lightweight Eloxal Jewelry is scratch resistant and remains bright and shiny. It measures 2" x 1 & 1/2".
