Madame Louise Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun was a French Artist whose career spanned from the late 1700's through the early 1800's. She was perhaps best known as a portrait painter to Marie Antoinette. History says she left a legacy of 660 portraits and 200 landscapes.
This is the second of Madame Lebrun's renowned self portraits with her daughter Jeanne-Lucie (called Julie). The painting captures well the love between mother & daughter. The original of the painting is now on display in Paris at the Louvre. This copy of the infamous painting was purchased in Italy. The color portrait print is in Excellent Condition. The hard plastic oval frame is 8 1/4" x 6 3/4" and has the appearance of a hand painted wood frame in wine and gold. An intact "Norleans" label indicates the frame is "Hand Made In Italy." The glass is without breaks. The frame comes ready to hang.
