Made of sturdy cardboard with a metal top and bottom, this old box used to hold a set of Halsam Comet Checkers.
Popular in the 1950's, the Halsam Comet wooden checkers featured an embossed planet and galaxy of stars.
This original package for the set of 24 checkers (Set No. 518 / 24) remains in Very Good to Excellent vintage condition. The lithograph paper remains intact with few rubs, scratches, or wearing to the graphics. The box has no dents or breaks. The exterior of the metal top and bottom have darkened over time but the interior actually remains quite shiny. There is residue from a price sticker that remains on the sample red checker shown on the back of the box. The box measures 5" tall x 2 3/4" wide. The sides are 1 1/2" from front to back.
A nice pick for the collector of Toys and Games. This listing is for the container only.
