A beautiful early bath (bathroom) or vanity piece, this Mug was likely used as a "Brush Mug" (if used at all) and is in EXCELLENT Condition. No chips, cracks, breaks, and very little of the common crazing! The mug measures 4 1/4" tall. The mouth measures 3 3/4" across. Beautiful early piece.
Homer Laughlin Toiletries often included more than chamber pots, basins (bowls), and pitchers but also included handled mugs, mouth ewers, and vases. The lavatory area was made pretty by decorated porcelain sets. This small Antique Toiletry Pitcher is a brush or shaving mug. The Homer Laughlin Company stamp on the bottom indicates that it was manufactured Pre- 1910 or the Victorian era. One of the prettiest and most elaborate shapes for toiletries made by Laughlin Pottery was this; the Bridal Shape which offered many designs including this rather simple but elegant gold spattered trim. The Victorian Bridal Shape has distinctly ornate handles, an embossed scrolling pattern around the bottom and top of the pieces, and scalloped edges.
You may wish to see Homer Laughlin bathroom / commode / chamber pot accessories / or Toiletry Items (including a Toiletry Set in the Bridal Shape) and more contemporary Homer Laughlin Dinnerware in this shop!
