This listing is for FOUR pieces of less than perfect, though still beautiful, Moss Rose Dishes in Homer Laughlin's Swing Shape. Each of the four pieces have a nick or chip. Except for the cup, the issues are out of sight or on the bottom of the pieces so they remain quite pretty for use or display.
The large plate measures 9 1/4". The upper side remains without damage and the rose design in Excellent Condition. Photo number four, shows the bottom of this plate. It is the one in the middle. As in the photo the shallow chip in the plate is near the edge and less than 1/8" across.
The bread & butter plate measures 6 1/8". This plate also has a chip on the under side, near the edge that measures almost 1/4". The visible or upper side of this plate is also in great and lovely condition. The bread & butter plate is the top plate in photo number four.
The saucer is 5 3/8" and also has a chip on the under side, near the edge, that measures almost 1/4". The visible or upper side of the saucer is in very good condition. The saucer is the lower plate in photo number four.
The cup which has the circular handle known to the Swing Shape, is the piece in this place setting that does show chips on the upper side. There are two areas near the rim of the cup. The one that is most visible is on the inside and is approx. 1/4" wide by about 1/16", there is also a very tiny nick on the outside rim that is barely detectable.
In spite of each of the nicks and chips as listed, the four pieces remain quite attractive and useful, a lovely set from the early 1940's.
This popular Homer Laughlin Pink Rose Pattern is usually referred to as Moss Rose though sometimes found under Calirose or Calarose. The centered blooming pink rose with rosebud is complemented by the pastel pink trim at their edge. This pattern is like the Pink Organdy pattern, also in Laughlin's Swing shape, with the addition of the pretty pink rose in the center. The Swing Shape is known for its rounded edges. Laughlin's Eggshell line of dishes were created as thinner, more elegant dinnerware (more like china) than their previous pottery.
This listing price is for the Service for FOUR in the initial pictures.
Other items in Moss Rose (and also in Pink Organdy) are available in this shop. The last photo shows the service for four with two additions that are also available in this shop; a double egg cup and a cereal bowl. Please search Laughlin Moss Rose in this shop to see other matching items.
