This Poppy & Rose design was introduced by Homer Laughlin in the 1930's and continued in production through the mid-1950's. This pattern is perhaps one of the most popular Homer Laughlin designs beyond their Fiesta. Most of the coordinating pieces (in this pattern; plates, bowls, etc... were made in the Kwaker shape. The cups and saucers with the Poppy & Rose design however were made in multiple shapes.
In Excellent Condition, this set of four cups and saucers is one of the "fancier" shapes of cups and saucers made in the Poppy & Rose. The saucers have scalloped edges and the cups have decorative bottoms. The bright floral pattern remains sharp and the eight pieces are without chips. Very occasional to no crazing may be found and as is common with this pottery there is an occasional glaze pop or manufacturer's imperfection. One cup has an uneven area and a small spot of discoloration on the rim. That cup is shown in a close up (photo #6)
The design of Orange Poppies, Yellow Roses, and Black Leaves by Homer Laughlin is informally known as "Poppy & Rose" by most collectors, "Olivia" by some, and tagged as "Ivora" by others.
