This Homer Laughlin Poppy & Rose Espresso or Demitasse Cup has the angular handle unique to the Kwaker Shape. This Poppy & Rose design was introduced by Homer Laughlin in the 1930's and continued in production through the mid-1950's. This pattern is perhaps one of the most popular Laughlin designs beyond their Fiesta. Crooksville China also utilized this decal design.
The pattern of Orange Poppies, Yellow Roses, and Black Leaves by Homer Laughlin is informally known as "Poppy & Rose" by some collectors, "Olivia" by others, tagged as "Ivora" by some. Several shapes by Laughlin were made with this Poppy Design. Laughlin's Kwaker, Ivora, Nautilus and even the Virginia Rose shape can be found with this pattern.
This demitasse cup measures a small 2" tall and 2 7/8" across (not including the handle), prefect for the after dinner coffee or espresso....or even that small cup of tea. The saucer carries the Homer Laughlin mark and the Nautilus name. The saucer measures only 5 5/16" wide.
This cup has a minor amount of crazing, no staining, nicks or breaks noted on either the cup or saucer.
You may wish to see other items in this Laughlin Poppy & Rose Pattern also in this shop including another shape / style of Demitasse Cup in the Poppy & Rose design.
The last photo shows a full sized cup and saucer set for size perspective. A demitasse set in another shape is also shown in the background of the same photo. This listing is for the one Kwaker Demitasse Cup and the Saucer as shown in the first photos.
