This Homer Laughlin Creamer is in the popular "Poppy & Rose" pattern and in the Kwaker Shape. The "modern" shaped angular handle is typical of the hollow ware of the Kwaker shape. In Excellent Condition, this creamer is without nicks, chips, cracks, or crazing. The date on the base with the HLC mark indicates the creamer was made in 1953. The Creamer is also an appropriate size to use as a gravy if desired. It measures 5 5/8" from handle to the lip.
This Poppy & Rose design was introduced by Homer Laughlin in the 1930's and continued in production through the mid-1950's. This pattern is perhaps one of the most popular Homer Laughlin designs beyond their Fiesta and most often found on the Kwaker shape.
The design of Orange Poppies, Yellow Roses, and Black Leaves by Homer Laughlin is informally known as "Poppy & Rose" by most collectors, "Olivia" by others, and tagged as "Ivora" by some.
