Hazel Atlas manufactured jars like this for multiple purposes. As an apothecary jar, jars like this can be found with vintage Nursery Sets used to hold cotton balls, diaper pins etc. This same type of jar was also used for mustard and was sold with a metal ring that went over the top to keep it sealed. When found like this one, the jar may have been used for any multitude of purposes; on the vanity, in the nursery, or even in the kitchen.
When I was growing up, the sugar bowl we used all of my childhood was a jar like this.
The jar is without nicks, chips, or breaks. The bottom has a textured finish while the sides and the lid are smooth glass. The bottom carries the H over A for the Hazel Atlas Company. The jar is 4" tall including the round knob of the lid.
