Prior to 1937, the Hocking Glass Company was known as just that until 1937 when they merged with the Anchor Cap and Closure Corporation. After the 1937 merger the Hocking Glass Company became known as Anchor Hocking.
The Mayfair; Open Rose pattern was introduced during the Depression by the Hocking Glass Company (before the merger). The Open Rose Mayfair was produced in this lovely light yellowish green, pink, ice blue, and yellow. The glassware was sold between 1931 to 1937.
This center handled, 11 3/4" sandwich plate or server has a unique angled handle. The rose design is placed intermittently between a design of rays. The server plate is in Very Good / Excellent Condition. Typical of Depression Glass there are a few bubbles in the glass that can be seen in the photos. There are no nicks or chips. There is virtually no apparent signs of use. This is NOT a reproduction; the design does not deviate from the original design and the glass appropriately glows under a black light.
A lovely piece of history!
