By Anchor Hocking Fire King, leaf plates and blossom bowls like this were made in four different pastel colors; this peachy pink and then yellow, blue, and jadeite green.
This lotus shaped leaf and blossom set was made from Hocking's creamy white Vitrock and the applied peach color fired on. From the 1950's these sets were originally sold as Dessert Dishes and are lovely for that use but also serve shrimp cocktails, shrimp salad, and cream soups beautifully.
This 8 1/4" plate and 4 3/4" bowl are without nicks , chips, or breaks. There is minimal wear, or light signs of use-- with small areas of missing color. There is however a very interesting detail with this set that makes it unique. On close inspection there is a manufacturing anomaly with the bowl (see close up photos). Two of the "petals" of the scalloped bowl are not as rounded as the others. One of the petals is just slightly less rounded and then the next one more obviously has a point on one side where it should have been rounded. The "point" is definitely not a break--the area is smooth and the finish is fully in place. This then is a "One of a Kind" bowl.
You may wish to see other Hocking Vitrock items available in this shop. Some collector's prefer to collect these all in one color. Others prefer to collect the rainbow of colors. If you are looking for one in each color you may wish to see another listing in this shop for the complete set. Or, if you are collecting just the peach / pink sets--then you may also wish to see another set listed separately and also in this shop. Multiple purchases will be securely packaged and safely shipped together.
