Beginning in 1970 Fenton produced a series of Amethyst Art Glass Plates celebrating Craftsmen in America. The leaf and floral trim and the scenes on each plate are raised. On the reverse is text commemorating the portrayed craft and its history. The date the plate was manufactured and the Fenton logo are also in raised lettering on the back. As is typical of Carnival Glass, the "Amethyst" Art Glass has a reflective and luminescent quality.

Actually, though the photos don't show it, the plates in this series (including this one) are predominantly a deep dark blue with hues of purple and gold. The photos seem to pick up on the gold and green hues instead though.

This 8 1/4" plate was handmade by Fenton Glass in 1978 and is considered number 2 in the series. The plate celebrates the craft printing during the Colonial Period and commemorates a Colonial Printer; Stephen Days from Massachusetts who printed the first English book in America in 1638. The plate is in Excellent Condition without issues. .
