The impish grin, cute pointy nose, and extraordinary captivating eyes of this Large Pixie Elf have to bring a smile to your face...and what a cutie! This Christmas Elf is dressed in green with red and white trim. He has a wind up key on his back for an internal music box that used to play Jingle Bells and very occasionally still does. Unfortunately the music box seems to have been wound too tight so he is USUALLY no longer musical. (Usually is the key word here because he took off playing in the middle of the night last night "...when all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse"...no one but Mr. Elf that is...in the quiet of the night, very slowly, he began to play Jingle Bells and played for a few minutes.
Originally hand crafted in Japan in the 1960's, these were sold in the USA by Berman & Anderson as "A Santa Creation". About the size of a 10" doll, he sits cross legged with his hands out. He is 8 1/2" tall while seated-- measuring from his bottom to the top of his head. His limbs are made with wire inside and can be forced into other positions but these were not made to be "knee huggers" and trying to stretch out his legs to bend them into different positions is not recommended. Like the knee hugger elves though, he wears a green felt suit with white and red trim and red boots. He is still in great condition for an attractive vintage holiday decoration and sits up well as a centerpiece for those knee hugger collections. When he does decide to play a few notes his head turns slightly with the music
He is shown here with another "twin" elf (listed separately) and a small knee hugger (also listed separately) that can rest in his arms. (This elf is the one on the left in the next to last photo).
