Quite rustic, this school box has a peg board top that slides open easily for a place to store pegs, pens, ink, pencils, crayons, erasers and other art, school, or desk supplies. Peg boards gave children an opportunity to create designs, improve dexterity, work on their math skills, and have fun in the process. The box does not appear to have ever had a handle so perhaps it was not used to take supplies back and forth to and from school but provided a place for storage at the desk. In obvious used and worn condition--the kind that gives it character--the box measures 7 3/4" x 8" x 3" offering ample storage space and remains well put together and sturdy.
