The Blue Willow Pattern has been a favored design world wide and said to be the most prolific design among potters from around the globe. The Oriental Design is said to have originated in China. Usually. like its name, the pattern is found in the creamy white and blue but it has also been manufactured in other colors as well. The numerous Willow designs usually incorporate a willow tree, an orange or apple tree, two birds, people on a bridge, a fence, a boat and a tea house (or pagoda).
This particular pattern by Churchill was manufactured in England beginning in 1989. These straight sided cups have the Blue Willow Pattern completely around each cup (see photos). The cups carry an imprint of "Made in England." The saucers carry the Churchill name. Each cup and saucer is in Excellent Condition without nicks, chips, or breaks. The cups have the normal signs of use on the unglazed portion of the foot.
