What a pretty Betsy McCall!
This cheeky girl was born as a pre-teen by the American Character company in the late 1950's. The first dolls have the courser hair as this one does. Betsy's dark blonde hair is intact and in great condition. She has her original hair barrettes on each side. She has pretty blue open and close eyes that need assistance. Her lovely facial coloring and skin tone are in Excellent Condition and complimented by her sweet red lips. Excellent.
This pretty young lady comes with her orange dress with ivory trim, black tights, and black shoes. This outfit is known as the "At the Zoo" Outfit as shown on page 146 of the American Character Dolls Identification Guide by Judith Izen. The dress is in Excellent Condition. The tights are without holes or runs. Her left little black shoes will no longer fasten.
Also included is Betsy's favorite school days dress in red plaid. The trim on the dress shows light soiling. Both snaps are intact and function and no holes are found. She has a little red purse to go with her dress that isn't original to her but she likes it!
Betsy is a bit loose but in overall Very Good Condition! Her knees bend and she even sits pretty well without any difficulty--just a little patience. Her standing pose is best with the metal stand made just for her size and it is included. Her arms will hold a pose for awhile. She has a small split in her crotch as shown which is typical of these dolls.. She is living in a non-smoking home.
*The doll stand is included but the bench she sits on is for her photo op only and does not come with her.
