A presumed First Edition this antique historical romance was first published in 1904. This book is copyrighted 1904 and published by C.M. Clark Publishing of Boston, Mass. The full title of the book is shown on the title page as; "My Lady Laughter, A Romance Of Boston Town In The Days Of The Great Siege." The book received good reviews when published and still does with recent reprints being under taken. The story takes place in Boston during the American Revolution and is said to be a well balanced story of a British young woman (a Tory) who is won over to the American side of the war due to her love for an American soldier. The book was illustrated by Charles H. Stephens and each of illustrations are signed by the artist.
This book remains in very good condition. The gray cloth cover remains intact with tanning of the spine. The front corners of the cover are bumped and very light wear is noted to the unusual cover illustration. A 1904 UK Book Review claimed that the cover was "bold and extremely effective." The internal pages show light foxing. A previous owner's name is neatly written on the first page and no other marks are found. All of the pages are intact.
