Old Monk Tankard / Mug
This large mug is decorated with a famous Monk or Friar picture story. This particular design-- with the Monk chugging from a wine bottle while holding a basket of grapes, is also pictured on some of Willets' and Warwick's late 1800's to early 1900's art ware pieces. Unfortunately this Tankard does not carry a maker's mark. It measures 4 7/8" tall and has a substantial weight of 1 1/2 pounds. There is fine crackling, or crazing, throughout and several small nicks to the finish on the rim of the mug (these do appear and feel to be on the finish only). The base trim has an iridescence which gives it a metallic appearance.
The large beer mug can still be used for drinking from if desired or perhaps best displayed in a collection of other Steins, Mugs, Tankards, or Breweriana.
Postage will reflect the weight of the heavy mug.
