Beautiful banding on a white and black background.The stone is translucent with oval shape design.The setting is a sterling silver.The brooch has a handmade C clasp.

Agate was regarded as wonderful pieces of natural history, and was often used in Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian jewelry, prized for each pieces' uniqueness - no two exactly alike! Unfortunately, the brooch is unmarked for maker.
AGE: Antique c. 1880’s
CONDITION: excellent with aged patina.
MEASUREMENTS: 1-3/8”inches length by 1-3/16” inches tall.
There is a ring on the back through which a fine chain can be run so this treasure can also be worn as a pendant.
