This is a very lovely original early Victorian era agate brooch in a 12k gold filled and in a simple oval. bezel. The agate is so lovely with natural occlusions and is almost translucent. Would have been worn with a neck ribbon or fichu.
Very popular in Victorian rings and pendants, as well as ornate brooches, these stones are collected for the unique pictures formed by minerals and filaments in a matrix of clear or cream agate.
The Agate is so beautiful, with dark brown striations flaring out to a cream and rust plume.
An oval brooch in a nice size, measuring 1 5/8”inches X 7/8”inches.
In very nice antique condition. The agate is glossy and unscratched. See photos. C type clasp is in working order.
There are signs of wear, along with a normal patina, burnish, & wear. This brooch has over 100 years of stories to tell. It could be slightly older than 100 years.
Highly collectible & wearable! This is an heirloom piece of jewelry you will enjoy for generations. Own a piece of history.
