This classic hand blown art glass sauce boat was designed by Lloyd Atkins for Steuben in 1957. The piece has a stylized form reminiscent of a pear and is finished with a large stem-like handle at one end which curls in on itself. The body is 2.5" deep and can accommodate up to 10.5oz of liquid, or could also be used to serve candy or nuts. The underside bears the Steuben signature etched in diamond point.
The sauce boat is in good original condition with no repairs. As a vintage item, the piece shows signs of use consisting of some scratching to the underside and a tiny nick on the outside approximately 1" from the base. The piece stands 3.75" tall as measured to the top of the handle and is 7" long and 4.75" at the widest point of the body. The sauce boat weighs in at 1lb 11oz.
This elegant art glass sauce boat would a wonderful addition to a grouping of Steuben serving pieces or works equally well showcased on its own. Perfect for display and use in your own home, or could also be a meaningful wedding gift or gift given as a 3rd/15th "Crystal" anniversary gift. A lovely vintage find!
