This antique Morimura Brothers porcelain paneled vase features a hand painted scene with a swan swimming on the water. The scene includes lush vegetation and tall leafy green trees with purple hills visible in the distance. The image is bordered with a series of small green moriage beads. The body and neck of the vase are finished in brown and bear large autumnal leaves outlined in white slip. The neck of the vase is flanked by two angular green handles bearing brown moriage beads and linear elements.
The vase is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. As an antique item the piece shows signs of age consisting of minor wear to the decoration which is mentioned for accuracy. The vase stands 5" as measured to the top of the handles and is 2.5" across as measured at its widest point. The underside bears the green Morimura Brothers wreathed "M" backstamp reading "Hand Painted Nippon" used between 1911 and 1921. The vase weighs in at just over 4oz.
This beautiful diminutive Nippon cabinet vase would be a great addition to an existing collection of antique Japanese porcelain or could be used as a stand alone decorative accent in your home. A lovely and unusual piece.
