This elegant antique Blush Ivory miniature footed posy basket vase was made by English porcelain manufacturer, Royal Worcester. Blush Ivory decoration was a complex and expensive process and this piece is a lovely example. The diminutive porcelain basket vase has a shaded apricot ground and features colorful floral and foliate groupings on the front and back which have been accented in 22k gilt. The piece has an arched handle with gilt highlights and also bears gilded dimensional lion masks on either side of the body. The basket vase rests on a round pedestal foot which is encircled with gilt bands.
The basket vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. As an antique the piece shows signs of age consisting of minor wear to the gilding on the lion masks and foot rim which is mentioned for accuracy. The piece stands 5.25" as measured to the top of the handle and is 3.25" from the furthest points of the lion masks. The foot is 1.75" in diameter and bears the puce-colored Royal Worcester crowned backstamp with 16 dots dating it to 1911. It also carries the numbers 6/50. The piece weighs in at just over 4oz.
This highly collectible Royal Worcester miniature basket vase displays beautifully and would be a great addition to a collection of antique Blush Ivory, or works equally well as a stand alone piece.
