This vintage set of 1930's English fine bone china red and gold demitasse/mocha cabinet cups and saucers were made by Crown Staffordshire. The richly decorated cups and saucers feature ornate hand painted filigree overlay along with brightly colored floral bouquets located inside the cups and at the center of the saucers. They also have cream colored reserves, each of which bear a bunch of gilt grapes growing on leafy vines along with delicate curvilinear tendrils.
The set is in overall good condition and displays beautifully. There are no chips, cracks or repairs with the exception of one cup which has a stable hairline located next to the handle. As vintage items the pieces show signs of age consisting of minor wear to the painted decoration which is mentioned for accuracy. It should also be mentioned that there are anomalies present in the decoration including some gold dots on the surface of one saucer. The cups stand 2.25" tall and are 2.125" in diameter at the mouth. The saucers measure 5" in diameter. The undersides bear a green Crown Staffordshire backstamp reading "FINE BONE CHINA CROWN STAFFORDSHIRE ESTd 1801" and "MADE IN ENGLAND".
These Crown Staffordshire demitasse cups and saucers would be a great addition to a collection of fine English bone china. An elegant vintage find.
