The charming antique hand painted Capodimonte porcelain figural group features an 18th century courting couple. The pair are mounted on an oval plinth with moulded rococo accents highlighted in gilt paint. The piece depicts a gentleman kneeling in front of a young lady seated on a rocky outcropping and features multiple applied porcelain flowers, including a floral wreath which he is about to place on the lady's head. Both people are attired in period clothing with the man wearing a black wide brimmed hat with a yellow band, a gilt trimmed green jacket worn over a floral waistcoat, wine colored breeches, white hose and black shoes. The lady wears a fitted black, gold and rust bodice over a long sleeved white blouse, a full skirt covered with blue and red flowers along with two yellow textured bands, and rust colored shoes which match her bodice. Great care has been taken with the painted decoration which includes individual strands of hair on both the man and woman.

The figural group is in very good condition with no visible hairlines, cracks or restorations. As an antique item, the piece shows signs of age consisting of a few chips to the petals of the flowers which are mentioned for accuracy. There are also some slight production related irregularities in the painted decoration along with a small fleck of porcelain caught in the glaze on the left side of the man's chin which are mentioned for accuracy. The piece stands just over 4.5" tall as measured to the top of the floral wreath and is 4" by 2.125" at the widest point of the base. The underside of the piece bears an underglaze cobalt blue crowned capital N.

This lovely porcelain figural group displays beautifully and would be a wonderful addition to a collection of antique porcelain figurines or works equally well as a stand alone decorative accent. A terrific antique find!
