This antique American Brilliant Period cut glass lay-down style perfume flacon has been made in a heart shape and features an ornate pattern. The detailed pattern includes a large 8 point hobstar surrounded by fine cross-hatching. The central hobstar motif is surrounded by deep mitre cuts along with sections of strawberry diamonds. The bottle is finished with a sterling silver cap that screws on and off, keeping the contents safely inside. The cap is decorated with flowers and scrolls which have been executed in relief. There is a blank cartouche at the apex of the lid which can be engraved if desired.
The perfume flacon is in very good condition and is very clean inside. The lid screws on and off easily and retains its original cork insert inside. As an antique, the piece shows appropriate signs of age consisting of minor nicks and scratches to the surface and a dent on the side of the silver cap, none of which detract from the appearance of the piece and are mentioned for accuracy. The flacon measures 4.125" from the lowest point of the heart to the top of the cap. It is 3" across at the widest point of the shoulders and 1.25" at its deepest point. The mouth measures .75" from edge to edge. The piece weighs in at 7oz.
The sterling lid bears the letter "L" for American silver manufacturer La Pierre Mfg. Co. along with the number "2598", best seen in photo 10.
This lovely cut glass scent flacon would be a wonderful addition to a collection of antique ABP perfume bottles. It works equally well on its own whether holding your favorite perfume or used as a decorative accent. An elegant piece!
