This gorgeous hand made signed and numbered perfume bottle was made by renowned glass artists Kit Karbler and Michael David of Denver’s Blake Street Glass Studio, founded in 1979.
The signed Karbler and David contemporary art glass scent bottle has a clear body which encases a fuchsia perfume reservoir. The piece also has bright blue, purple and green decorative elements located in the interior which have concentric linear detail, giving the glass a prismatic visual effect.
The bottle's thick walls are finished with 3 large flat sides with 3 smaller flat planes at the top. The neck has also been finished with 3 flat sides. The bottle comes with its matched frosted glass spike form dauber and is topped with a clear finial. The finial bears exterior ribbed decoration which alternates with 3 flat sides, echoing the design motif found on the bottle itself. The finial is topped with a clear circular knob.
The perfume bottle and dauber are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The piece stands just under 5" tall with the dauber in place and is approximately 3.25" across at the widest point of the body. The mouth of the bottle is .5" across. The dauber measures 3.5" long and the finial is 1.5" across at its widest point. The piece is heavy for its size and weighs in at 1lb 5oz. As seen in photo 10, the foot bears the artists diamond point etched names “Kit Karbler” and "Michael David" along with the number "69562". The base also bears 3 small gel cushion feet intended to protect the surface on which the bottle is displayed.
This highly collectible perfume bottle would make a wonderful gift or may be just what you have been looking for to add to your own art glass collection. It is a striking object sure to be noticed whether displayed on a dresser, vanity or on a counter. A beautiful vintage find!
