This elegant pair of sage green jasperware candlesticks were made in England by Wedgwood. The cylindrical stems feature white bas-relief Greco-Roman figures which include a woman playing the lute and a woman standing while holding a scroll, both of whom have flowers sprouting at their feet. The woman are separated by tall leafy trees. The candlesticks have pedestal feet which are encircled by foliate bands.
The candlesticks stand 6.75" tall and are 4.25" in diameter at the foot. The tops are 2.5" in diameter and the nozzles themselves are 0.75" in diameter. The set is in very good vintage condition with no cracks or repairs. As vintage pieces, the set shows signs of use consisting of a slight nick to the side of the rim on one piece and remnants of candle wax inside the both nozzles, all of which is mentioned for accuracy. The underside of the pieces bear an impressed "WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND" mark along with the number "75" and letters "PH". The candlesticks weigh in at a combined 2lbs 8oz.
These lovely vintage candlesticks display beautifully and look great on a dining table or flanking a mantel. They would be a great addition to a collection of green Wedgwood jasperware or work equally well on their own.
