This large vintage sterling centerpiece bowl was made by highly regarded American silver manufacturer Reed and Barton. The striking 12.75" by 9" piece has a classic form and features a fluted body which terminates in a scalloped edge. The bowl is finished with four detailed paw-form feet which elevate it from the tabletop.
The bowl stands 3.75" as measured to its tallest point and weighs in at 670 grams. The piece is in very good original condition with no removals or repairs. As a vintage item it should be mentioned that the bowl shows appropriate signs of age consisting of minor scratching/scuffs and light tarnish which do not detract from its appearance and are noted for accuracy. The underside is hallmarked with the 3-part Reed and Barton makers mark along with the date symbol designating production in 1941, item number "X811" and metal content "STERLING".
This elegant centerpiece bowl would be a wonderful addition to a collection of vintage/antique sterling made by Reed and Barton or other manufacturers, or looks great showcased on its own. A lovely and useful piece!
