This 14" hand painted German porcelain vase was made by Royal Bonn and has a cylindrical form that terminates in a flared rim. The vase has been finished in teal glaze and has an ornate gilt pattern which includes scrolls and floral pendants located at the base and at the top of the piece along with multiple small dots arranged in circular formations. The central portion is bordered by horizontal gilt bands bearing raised dots and features two large gilt cartouches decorated with colorful pink, purple, peach and blue flowers. The cartouches are flanked by tall leafy green trees bisected by a horizontal series of stylized lemon yellow flowers. The rim is gilded and the inside of the vase is finished with sponged gilt paint which transitions to blue glaze.
The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The piece stands 14" tall and is 5.625" at the mouth and 4.25" in diameter at the foot. The underside bears the Royal Bonn crowned shield backstamp used between 1890 and 1920 with the stylized letters "FAM" for company founder Franz Anton Mehlemand and number "1755". The vase is also impressed with the letter H and number 2855 and hand painted with "D. 6572.", "290." and "K.11.". The piece weighs in at 3lbs.
This stunning Royal Bonn vase displays beautifully and would be a great addition to a collection of fine antique porcelain. The piece also works equally well as a stand alone decorative accent on its own or filled with flowers. A gorgeous antique find.
