This elegant sterling silver Revere form bowl was hand made by Massachusetts silversmith George C. Erickson, a member of the Arts and Crafts Society of Boston. Erickson was born in Sweden and apprenticed with highly regarded silversmith Arthur J. Stone. Erickson's classic pieces have a timeless appeal and this bowl is a wonderful example of his work. As seen in the accompanying photographs, the beautifully proportioned piece has a round stepped pedestal foot and a bowl with flared walls that terminate in an everted rim. The piece has not been monogrammed.
The bowl is in very good original condition with no repairs. As a vintage item, the piece shows appropriate signs of age consisting of light scratches/scuffs and traces of tarnish which do not detract from its appearance and are mentioned for accuracy. There is also a lightly etched mark reading R 84 which is also mentioned for accuracy.
The bowl stands 2.875" tall and is 7.375" in diameter at the mouth. The foot rim is 3.375" in diameter and the underside bears the Erickson hallmark which reads "ERICKSON" along with the word "STERLING". The bowl weighs in at 450 grams.
This useful bowl displays beautifully and would be a great addition to a collection of fine vintage silver. The piece would make a lovely wedding or anniversary gift, or may be just what you have been seeking to decorate your own home. Perfect for serving foods or for use as a decorative accent. An outstanding vintage find!
