This beautiful antique Victorian pitcher was likely made by Mt Washington Glass of New Bedford, Massachusetts. The diminutive piece has an amber colored base which transitions to a rose colored shoulder and neck. The body of the pitcher has a subtle paneled effect which is best seen in photo 5. The applied amber glass handle is characteristic of Mt Washington's pieces and has a reeded design.
The pitcher is in good antique condition with no chips or repairs. As an antique item, it should be noted that there are signs of use consisting of light scratching to the glass and minor shelf wear on the base. In addition, there are production related anomalies present in the glass including air bubbles and lines at the rim. As seen in the accompanying photographs, the pitcher displays very well and these issues are mentioned for accuracy.
The pitcher stands just under 4.75" tall and is 4" from the back of the handle to the front end of the spout. The base is 2" in diameter and has a ground and polished pontil.
This antique Amberina pitcher would be a great addition to a collection of Victorian art glass, or works equally well as a stand alone decorative accent. A beautifully proportioned piece perfect for display or for serving cream/milk.
