This original circa 1937 oil painting was executed by listed American artist Max Herzog (1889-1962). The piece features a bouquet of colorful pansies housed in a ceramic footed vase. The vase rests on a delicate white lace doily with a dimensional appearance. The floral arrangement and doily are set against a tonal red ground which complements the colors of the flowers. The artwork is housed in a gilded period frame with a diamond motif and has hints of red.
The painting is in very good vintage condition with no damage or repairs to the canvas. The piece has been signed and dated "37" by the artist at the right hand side of the image next to the ceramic vase, best seen using the zoom function in photo 4. The frame is structurally sound and also in very good condition. That said, the paper backing shows signs of minor age related wear including slight tears/punctures which are mentioned for accuracy.
The frame itself measures 17.5" x 14.5" and is 1.25" deep. The exposed artwork is 13.5" x 10.5". The piece weighs 1 lb 14 oz.
This original Herzog oil painting displays beautifully and complements many forms of decor, from traditional to a more eclectic look. A lovely vintage find!
