This delightful postcard shows "The Celestial Sphere" by Paul Manship at the 1940 New York World's Fair. The Celestial Sphere by Paul Manship rotates on the backs of four turtles above a reflecting pool in the Court of States. The card tells us that: "the sphere is an exact copy of a bronze one now being executed in front of the League of Nations Building in Geneva by the Woodrow Wilson Foundation."
This card is from the famous 1940 World's Fair that used the Trylon and Perisphere as its logo. It is in very good condition with postal ink lines at the upper left corner and slightly bumped corners. There is a message on the back of the card and it is dated June 1, 1940. The cancellation mark is New York, NY and there is a canceled one-cent stamp.
