This UTA French Airlines butter pat was made by Royal Limoges France. This pattern shows the UTA insignia in the center surrounded by a compass. The design is done in blue and gold.
This vintage butter pat has an elaborate backstamp that says: "Fabrique specialement a Pintention des passagers de la Cie UTA. " It then contains the marking that indicates: "Anc. Manufacture Royale Limoges France." The butter pat measures 3" and i n excellent condition.
It is listed on page 100 of Transportation Collectors' Butter Pat World by Richard W. Luckin.
In his book Luckin tells us that UTA was established in 1963 through a merger of TAI (Transports Aeriens Intercontinentaux) and that UTA (Union Aeromaritime de Transports). UTA was taken over by Air France n 1992.
What a great gift idea for a butter pat, airline, or transportation collector.
