This postcard shows the Pontalba Apartments. The card tells us that these apartments were constructed nearly 110 years ago by the Baroness Pontalba. It also tells us that the buildings are used today in practically the same manner, with shops on the ground floor and living quarters on the second and third floors.
The balconies on the buildings are specially designed and are noteworthy examples of lace iron. The apartments flank the upper and lower sides of Jackson Square in the heart of New Orleans French Quarter.
This card has been postally used and has two cancelled one-cent stamps. The postmark is hard to read.
This card is in excellent condition.
