What a wonderful find! This first part of this unique book describes the life of Martha Washington and illustrates the furniture and household items, as well as clothing, of her time. The second part of the book contains a paper doll and 11 dresses of Martha's era. The story and costumes in this book were by Aline Bernstein and the publisher is Howell, Soskin. The book has a copyright date of 1945.
This book is in good vintage condition with the following flaws: the bottom 3/4" of the spiral is missing; a child wrote in ink on the teapot illustrating the inside of the front cover; there is some damage to the bottom corner of one of the dress pages (minor); there are some small creases on the top edge of the front cover and some scratching to the back cover. The pages are clean and bright with only a slight amount of toning from age. Sounds like a lot of flaws--but they are all minor and only mentioned for full disclosure. This wonderful paper doll book will be a unique and attractive addition to any collection.
