This lovely little bag is very old and must date from the early 1900s. On a black background sprinkled with flowers, there is a wonderful round medallion picturing an antique pavilion on a pond in the middle of a park, just as the scenery you can admire in the Villa Borghese Park in Rome. The bottom of the medallion is underlined with a crown of beautiful roses. The same motif is represented on each side of the purse. What a nice landscape on such a small surface! There is an inset petit-point panel between front and back. The purse is mounted on what seems to be a copper frame with an engraved pattern and the clasp is a very simple one. On one side of the frame there is a metal ring for attaching a chain or a braid. The inside is fully lined with beige fabric with a side pocket. The lining is intact but shows a bit of age. The body of the bag measures 5½ x 4¾” (14 x 12 cm). This little purse is in very good vintage condition with vivid colors and virtually no wear. It will ship Priority registered airmail for $8 in Europe and $11 anywhere else in the world. Not a bag you will see everyday!
