France Grenadier soldier who looks to be dressed in a Napoleonic wars uniform. Appears to be a copper engraving under glass. We cannot remove the glass to confirm. It reads Le Grenadier, De L'ile D' Elbe. ( essentially, the grenadier, the Island of Elba. Additional lettering below his feet that we cannot make out. The box is 2 1/8 inch diameter and lined in horn. Small rough area on lid edge is natural to this piece of burl. No chips or damage noted. This is a 19th Century snuffbox. A lovely gift or addition to any memorabilia or box collection.
